TWAANG
was founded in 1993 with the aim of increasing Härnösand's
citizens' knowledge about whisky. As every serious association the
TWAANG has committees and members who have been entrusted with
different tasks.
The committee of literature and music - LUS, deals with things like
developing the club library, write out material for lectures and
also answer to requests about music from the homecountries of the
whisky.
The Cupbearer is responsible for the whisky tests and the purchasing
of whisky.
Our materialkeeper takes care of the chairman's club, a Pot Still,
although in a considerable smaller making and perhaps not entirely
functional as Pot Still.
The TWAANG has taken
upon itself to see that it's members and other people broaden their
horizons and increase their knowledge about the whisky,
manufacturing, history and geography.
We arrange studycircles, lectures and naturally, whisky tests (more
about that above and below). We collect literature, pamphlets, maps
and other informative things about the whisky and it's homecountries.
We also try to collect different whisky oddities. Things that we
have in the club store are for example whisky-mustard, whisky-candy
and a drop of Georgia Moon in the original bottle, guaranteed not to
have been stored more than three months. The club hands out medals
of different kinds, and especially to the annual Christmas party
certain members who deserve it are rewarded with medals.
Examples of medals that have been handed out are: Protokollus
Twanngus, the blue ribbon, Non Electus. At every whisky test a medal
is given to the member who has been able to guess the correct brand.
The green ribbon is therefore worn with a certain kind of pride. |
